3 Foods to Always Buy at the Store

Three foods you should always have at your house, so make sure you add them to your list each week.

  • Rice
  • Spinach & Fresh Fruit
  • Chicken

People get into trouble nutritionally when they do not have a plan or when they get so hungry they could eat the south end of a northbound skunk.

Today we are going to talk about the planning part.  You have to have a plan to be successful in anything you do — business, marriage, raising kids, fitness and especially nutrition.

When you don’t have a plan for your food you typically fall off the fitness path as well

The problem is people get busy, and they don’t have food already made up in the fridge, and they resort to eating out, and it is so much easier to eat poorly while you are out that if you at in the comforts of your own home.

To help combat this, we need to have a few foods that we can always turn to when we do not have anything already prepped.  So if we always need to have them on hand, we will need to buy them on a weekly basis.

Here are the foods you need to buy Every trip to the store

RICE

We love rice at our home, we make it in big batches and have it all week. From a taste perspective, it has a mild taste and will take on the feel of any meal you are cooking.

  • Mexican
  • Asian
  • Southern
  • Greek

I could go on and on.  From a nutritional standpoint, it is an excellent source of a clean carb to always have in your diet.

Spinach and Frozen Fruit (For Smoothies)

This is somewhat new to our home. We went on a Daniel fast, and this was a go-to for us on so many levels. It helped satisfy a sweet tooth if we were in the mood for something sweet and it also was a great source of fruits and veggies. We have become a society that has taken the color out of our diet and having the mix of frozen fruits, and fresh green spinach helps get those things back in our system.

Chicken

Probably the #1 protein source consumed by the American public.  It has so much diversity, and it is easy to cook. Also, you can freeze it, and it still is good when you thaw it out.   For decades this has been a staple of fitness enthusiasts. Lower in fat and high in protein and easy to digest.

If you are more on the plant-based side of things, then your staple would be Garbanzo beans. This also is a wonderful item that will take on the flavor you choose to work with for that meal

We hope this helps. These are staples in our home, and we think if you always have this stuff on hand you are more likely to succeed in your nutrition journey.

Love to hear about the items you buy on a weekly basis?
