My Experience with the 75 Hard

If you’ve been on social media lately, there’s a good chance you’ve seen the phrase “75 Hard.” If not, no worries, because we are about to tell you everything you need to know about it, plus my personal experience completing it.

What is the 75 hard?

The 75 Hard is a mental toughness program created by entrepreneur Andy Frisella. The reason Andy created this program is because he wanted to demonstrate how much your life can change by strictly disciplining yourself for 75 days.

What are the Rules?

So, how does the program work? For 75 days, you will follow the rules below, with absolutely no cheating, or you have to start over at day 1 again.

  1. Drink one gallon of water
  2. Choose one diet and stick to it ( no Cheating)
  3. No Alcohol
  4. Complete two 45 minute workouts, one being outside
  5. Read 10 pages of a personal growth book (no audiobooks!)
  6. Take a progress photo every single day

If you do not complete all of the tasks every day, you must start over.

It seems tough, and that’s because it is. Andy Frisella didn’t create the program to be easy, he created it to deeply challenge your everyday lifestyle and to yield positive results in your life.

What are the Goals of This Program?

Andy Frisella wants to make one thing clear: This is not a fitness program, nor is it just another fun “internet challenge.” The 75 Hard is truly about mental toughness and transforming your mindset. The goal is to develop the following traits: confidence, grit, fortitude, endurance, perseverance, self-belief, and a willingness to win. These are traits that no one is born with, but once developed will help you with the following according to Frisella

  • Make huge strides in your career & have a job that you are proud of
  • Feel completely confident about yourself and your actions
  • Learn how to manage your day, so you can get more done, and quit wasting time on meaningless things
  • Develop amazing relationships with the people who matter in your life
  • Gain independence and the ability to take complete ownership of projects & tasks
  • Completely overhaul the way you think & act
  • Learn how to be honest with yourself and gain the self-awareness to stay on track
  • Be in the best physical shape of your life as a result of the mental transformation you have made

Is This Program Right for you?

Over 100,000 people have committed to the 75 Hard, but it’s still important to determine if it’s right for you. Frisella recommends consulting with your physician or a healthcare professional to ensure it aligns with your current needs and health situation.

Aside from health, the 75 hard isn’t right for you if you’re just looking for changes in your physique. While physique changes will inevitably occur, mental changes are the key and desire here.

If you find yourself in a slump of comparison, floating through the days aimlessly with no set goals or action plans, trying every fad or newly recommended “quick fix” on the internet, the 75 Hard may be exactly what you need to kickstart a different, more rewarding phase of your life.

My Experience

My experience with the 75 hard was wonderful. What I really like about it is that you get to pick your diet and exercises, so you’re not confined by a rigid structure that someone has pre-selected for you. For my diet, I elected to go with no flour or sugar. I completed my regular indoor workout, but for my outside workout, I selected to simply move my body and walk. After just 5 days, I could feel myself thinking clearer.

As far as the diet is concerned, its best to eliminate items as opposed to trying to hit certain metrics. (i.e. Hitting certain macro numbers). Another key is to pick a diet you can stick to after the 75 days are over. This is meant to be a lifestyle shift, not a fad weight loss trick.

I really enjoyed the mental fortitude and stamina or saying of saying “no.” By day 60-65, I had seen significant physical and mental changes (see photos below), with my body fat going down 2% (8% to 6%).

Ultimately, I highly recommend it as a jump start or lifestyle process. Give it a try!
