My Top 7 Books of 2017

My Top 7 Books of 2017

If you don’t know, I like to read… a lot. I like to be reading and learning all the time. So much so that I usually have two books going at a time.

There are so many things in my life I want to improve on so I turn to books to make me better. Also, think of your brain as a muscle - reading is exercise for the brain. Just like your body, you have to work it out to keep it in shape, and reading is one way to keep your brain fit. All in all, I read 40 books in 2017, and my goal in 2018 is to read 60.

Types of Books

I mainly read 4-5 types of books. Most of them come from, what some would say, the self-help world. But to get a little more specific, here are the categories I pull from:

  • Business
  • Biography
  • Investing
  • Spiritual
  • Selling

So here are My 7 Favorite Books of 2017:

  1. Millionaire Booklet - Grant Cardone

This books is less than 100 pages and I read it 2 times. It is incredibly motivating and unbelievably practical. Grant Cardone is awesome and a master at selling and motivation. Love his fire and his drive.

2. Everything You Can Out Of All You've Got - Jay Abraham

This book helped me make a large amount of money. Abraham is crazy good when it comes to marketing. There is some stuff in here that you may breeze over, but this book is FULL of practical advice that you can use to make your business better. Highly Recommended.

3. The 7 Levels of Communication - Michael J. Maher

This book was recommended to me by my Business Coach, Michelle Broadbent. This book is told from a story perspective and uses it to make points about communication and dealing with people. Great book and easy read.

4. Wild Things. The Art of Raising Boys - Stephen James and David Thomas

I loved this book. I have a 6 year old boy who is definitely all boy, and I love getting advice on how to raise my kids and make them better children of God, Tons of great tips and practical stuff in this book.

5. Play the Man - Mark Batterson
(Audio)

I would read just about anything Mark Batterson writes. And I honestly think I have read everything he has written. He is amazing. He takes stories and intertwines them into what he is trying to get across. Loved this book about being a man and raising a son.

6. Tools of Titans - Tim Ferris

Great book. SUPER long (700+ pages), but totally worth it. Tim Ferris took the best interviews and questions from his awesome podcast and put them in book form. The awesome thing is that most of the questions are the same, so you get to see what these legends of our time have to say about all the things that are going on in our society. You can pick and choose what to read, but I chose to read them all. I definitely got something out of the ones I did not think would be any good.

7. Salt Fat Acid Heat - Samin Nosrat
(Audio)

Great book for the Chef in your life. So many practical things that you can use in every area of your cooking. This woman is so wise and so simple - she talks about the little things and how they make a huge difference. Highly recommended.

This list is just skimming some of my favorites. In a future post, I will get create a deeper and more specific list. But from here, link up to one of these books and dive in. You will not be sorry.
